Bonus day. I only made lunch as Lara made breakfast, Nolan made dinner (more to come later) and Felix made dessert!
Month: October 2018
Saturday dinner by Lara
Lara’s turn to cook dinner on her own for the whole family! She decided that we’d have salmon, seasoned with paprika, basil, oregano, and cinnamon. It was absolutely scrumptious! There were no leftovers.
For veggies, she decided on broccoli fried in butter.
Serving time!
Pulleys, applied
They learnt about pulleys at school, sooooooo …. last weekend we had:
And this weekend, we have:
Caribou Math Contest
Nolan joined the math club in school and did his first worldwide Caribou Math Contest, without any prep.
Questions and his answers:
Dinner, by Nolan
Saturday night dinner for 4 adults (Grandpa and Joan had a stopover on their way home from Croatia) and 3 kids.
At this point, I was the one following the instructions as he called out: Mommy, please put in some basil, I’ll tell you how much. Now some oregano. Now this and now that…..
The complete meal he planned and cooked:
Early in the morning, he also made “fancy chicken broth”.
Cookies, by Lara
Peanut butter cookies – no flour or butter.
Very yummy, and enjoyed by all.
Greig’s Caves
First stop on our surprise Thanksgiving trip was to explore Greig’s Caves in Tobermory. For background, go to this post.
Surprise Thanksgiving trip
The kids didn’t know where we were going or how we were getting there (except that it was not by plane).
We rented a 25 foot RV for Oct 4-8 from a lady who lives in Creemore. Picture of the kids while driving – they played games and drew.
We spent the first night at Leith in Aunt Mary’s driveway. Felix had a little sleepwalking episode that night – he got up, put on his shoes and left the RV. Neil found him standing in Aunt Mary’s hallway looking very confused. We’re so glad he headed for the house instead of the road. After that first night, he shared a bed with either Neil or me, and we made sure to lock the door.
Stay tuned for our first stop in the next post.
67th out of 500 runners at the Cross Country Meet
Personal best – 87th place last year.
Possible fracture at the tip of the distal ulna
Nolan stuck one shoe into the loop of the laces of the other shoe and fell while at school. This resulted in a phone call home and a visit to the North York General Hospital emergency department.
Offending shoelaces have been trimmed!
